Zambezi Drilling & Exploration Limited, (ZamDEx) was awarded the contract of drilling of 350 boreholes with civil works in the districts of Kasempa, Mufumbwe and Kabompo by Ministry of Local Government and Housing. We have the pleasure in sharing our experiences with all the stake holders operating and working within North Western Province.
We have started our operations in April 2007 in the district of Kasempa and within two months extended our operations to Mufumbwe and Kabompo. Though the project was only for drilling of boreholes and related civil works ZamDEx went ahead to source and use locally available material which has resulted in setting up of additional activities like Mechanized Gravel Pack Station and stone Crushing Unit in Mufumbwe. The project has generated employment to 120 local personnel within the districts apart from technical experts from Lusaka.
The Geological formations within the province are typical and variable like Kalhari Sand formations and hence we have used all the latest drilling techniques using the state of art of equipments to installation of stainless steel hand pumps shall prevent any type of pollution of underground water and hence the communities shall enjoy clean potable drinking water as per international standards.
The visits of the Honorable German ambassador Mrs. Irene Hinrichsen, dignitaries from Kfw Entwicklungs Bank accompanied by Mr. Peter Lubambo, Director of Infrastructure and Support Services (MLGH) has boosted further prospects of the project and were very much impressed by our performance which has resulted in the extension of the project with additional 40 boreholes and the same shall be completed by 31st November, 2008.
We look forward for an opportunity to work with close association of other district councils within the province and we commit to deliver the same quality of services.
